Dengue cases in Caraga up by 74% in first 2 months of 2013

(PhilippineInformationAgency) A total of 396 suspected dengue cases were admitted to different disease reporting units in Caraga Region from January 1 to February 23. This is 74 percent higher compared to last year’s cases, recorded at 227.

Early warning system provides 4-month forecast of malaria epidemics in northwest India

(EurekAlert) Sea surface temperatures in the tropical South Atlantic Ocean can be used to accurately forecast, by up to four months, malaria epidemics thousands of miles away in northwestern India, a University of Michigan theoretical ecologist and her colleagues have found.

Hand foot and mouth disease on the increase in Maldives

(MinivanNews) Health Protection Agency (HPA) has warned people of the spread of hand, foot and mouth disease in the Maldives, local media has reported. HPA reported that the number of confirmed hand, foot and mouth disease cases had increased in some regions since January 2013.
