Pentagon To Develop Q Fever Vaccine; U.S. Military To Focus On Biological Weapons Defense

NIH Scientists Develop Candidate Vaccine for RSV
(GlobalBiodefense) An experimental vaccine to protect against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), a leading cause of illness and hospitalization among very young children, elicited high levels of RSV-specific antibodies when tested in animals, according to a recent report in the published in the journal Science. Early-stage human clinical trials of the candidate vaccine are planned.

Japanese fund to invest in promising technology against malaria, tuberculosis and Chagas disease
(EurekaAlert) The Global Health Innovative Technology Fund (GHIT Fund), a new public health partnership that is bringing Japanese know-how and investment to the global fight against infectious diseases, announced today grants of US$5.7 million to six global partnerships working on innovative drugs and vaccines against malaria, tuberculosis and Chagas disease.
