Biocity Turku
BioCity Turku is an umbrella organisation of the academic research on cell and molecular biology and biotechnology carried out in Turku, Finland at the University of Turku, the Åbo Akademi University, the Turku University Central Hospital and the National Public Health Institute, Department in Turku.

Centre for Biotechnology
Turku Centre for Biotechnology is an institute of University of Turku and Åbo Akademi University. The Centre provides technical expertise and coordinating services for academic and industrial projects in several central areas of biotechnology. Many of the key instruments have been installed at the Centre to create “core facilities” for biotechnological research.


The Faculty of Medicine, Institute of Microbiology and Pathology

In the Faculty of Medicine in the University of Turku is found the Institute of Microbiology and Pathology which provides specialization in clinical microbiology. In addition to research and education, the laboratory of the Institute offers its services to the hospitals and clinics all over Finland.

Forum on Science Ethics and Policy
The Forum on Science Ethics and Policy (FOSEP) “is a multidisciplinary, nonpartisan organization initiated by graduate students from the University of Washington. FOSEP is hosted by the Office of Research at the University of Washington.” The mission of FOSEP is to “foster discussion about the role of science in our society” and to “build a network of individuals interested in science ethics and policy in the Seattle area.”

Uppsala University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences: Centre for Research Ethics

The Centre for Research Ethics is a cooperative organization (between Uppsala University and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU)) for research ethics. The two person centre studies issues in research ethics, bioethics and other fields of applied ethics.

US Civilian Research and Development Foundation

“Both directly to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) and as part of a team with Bechtel National, Inc. CRDF provides support to DTRA-funded research projects in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Georgia that primarily focus on the diagnostics, epidemiology, and surveillance of especially dangerous pathogens. CRDF’s project management support includes:- proposal development- project monitoring and execution- recruiting and contracting U.S. scientific collaborators- providing financial support to project participants- coordinating travel and training activities to support project activities, and equipment and material procurement.”
